This project involved constructing a new-build rest, office, welfare, and greenhouse facility for the college gardeners to a unique design within an incredibly tight site, enclosed on all sides by historic garden walls in the centre of a live college environment. We love a challenge!
We were also working ‘next-door’ to another contractor and sharing access and services with them so it was vital that we communicated closely with them as well as the client.
In order to ensure that all aspects of the project were delivered to the client’s satisfaction, we made sure that we took an active lead role in liaising with their architect over the details of the design, and employed trusted subcontractors for all the main sub-contract elements of this project.
As usual, we ensured that we always provided ample office-based support for our site agent, to keep the project on track programme-wise and deal with any liaison with the client and professional team as required.
We took a very ‘hands-on’ role at all stages of the build to assist the decision-making processes associated with all design and monetary issues that arose.
Richard Ward always take great pride and interest in all elements of our work, and on this project, we feel it helped produced a coherent and high-quality outcome in keeping with the project brief.
The building is now complete and both the client and the gardening staff are extremely pleased with the result.
